Alabaster Sphere by Pierre Chareau

This piece appeared in 1930-32 as a bedside lamp. It is entirely made from alabaster. The sphere is placed onto a pedestal made of four thick plates.

The junction of these is enhanced by a square-section moulding, giving to the whole both strength and lightness.

The original 30s edition was 25 cm. (9¾ in.) high and 16 cm (6⅓ in.) wide. Men Art Work offer this piece in three sizes :
25 cm. ( 9¾ in.) high and 16 cm ( 6⅓ in.) wide
30 cm. (11¾ in.) high and 20 cm ( 6¾ in.) wide
45 cm. (17¾ in.) high and 30 cm (11⅓ in.) wide.
